Logline: After killing the man acquitted of murdering his wife and daughter, a reclusive history professor is seduced by a mobster's beautiful widow and asked to kill again—for her.

Synopsis: Ethan Collins and Ria Santanelli meet in a support group for parents of murdered children. Ria's husband, an organized crime figure, and her young son were killed in a car bombing five years earlier. Their killer, Carlo Matucci, son of the reigning Don, is due to be paroled in a few weeks. Ethan is currently enduring the trial of Wade Fowler, the man who raped and killed his wife and daughter two years before.

When key evidence is suppressed on procedural grounds and Fowler is acquitted, Ethan kills him in a carefully planned and brutally executed operation. In the course of setting up his alibi--an extended backpacking trip in the Sierras--Ethan meets and has an unexpected one-night affair with Andrea Knowles, a beautiful park ranger who later pursues him even though she promised "one night, no questions, no strings."

As Detectives Yelvington and Deitz investigate Ethan for the Fowler murder, Ria seduces him then asks him to kill Carlo for her. What she doesn't count on is falling for Ethan. What neither counts on is Andrea.
